Hello!
We are Jessica and Jim, and we are honored that you would consider us as adoptive parents for your child. We realize this could be the most difficult decision of your life, and we admire you for doing what is best for you and your baby. Our family is full of love and opportunities, and we are excited to become first-time parents. You can be at peace knowing we will love your baby unconditionally, and he or she will be welcomed with open arms and loving hearts into our family and circle of friends.
Our beginnings...
We met at a local restaurant where Jessica worked 8 years ago. Friends set us up on a date and we have been together ever since. From the very beginning we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. The most memorable day of our lives was the day we got married on October 5, 2008. We are looking to add to that memory by adopting a baby into our lives and begin that journey of building a family together.
We have a strong family foundation. When we meet it was instant chemistry. We share in the same hobbies and want the same things out of life. We are both hard working and well grounded people. We really enjoy just being with each other. We have developed mutual friends together and spend our time with them and each other. We are so ready to start the next chapter in our lives… parenthood!
Why adopt...
We have always dreamed of being parents. Both of us love children are believe all children deserve the best possible chance at a great life. Unfortunately, after years of infertility, we are faced with the fact that we are unable to have a biological child. We both believe that everything happens for a reason, and we feel strongly it is God’s plan for us to adopt. We are fortunate to have been touched by many friends and family members who were adopted, or have adopted. We have embraced adoption with our whole hearts and are excited to start our family!
Jim...
I graduated from Marist College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. I am currently in the insurance industry as a Property Damage Adjuster, but my career goal is to one day own my own business. Although I hold my career in high regard, my faith and family are most important to me. I love nothing more than spending quality time with Jessica and our families. When I find free time, I enjoy hunting, riding my ATV, and fishing with my dad. I am a big Yankee fan and so is my best friend Matt. He is also my brother. Matt lives in Virginia but comes up in the summer to catch a Yankee game. I have lots of great memories growing up, and I want the same for my children.
Jessica: "Jim is a wonderful husband and role model, and I cannot imagine my life without him. Jim is someone who loves to teach and would love nothing more than to raise a child with his beliefs. His strong family values are what keep him grounded. Jim loves the outdoors, and is looking forward to teaching his child how to love life. I have seen Jim interact with his nephew Elijah and know that one day he will make a fantastic dad!"
Jessica...
I graduated from college with a degree in Science and Radiologic Technology and currently work in a Cardiac Cath Lab. I work hard and my job is very rewarding. But, I realize the most important and rewarding job is being a mom, and although I love my job, my child will be my priority. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, running and being with my husband. I love any outdoor activities, yoga, and Pilates for mind relaxation. I have just recently found a love for cooking, especially baking. I have been around children my whole life. I am the oldest cousin on both sides so I have done lots of babysitting. I am very active so I see myself being the same way as a mom.
Jim: "Jessica is wonderful-dedicated and devoted to family. She works hard to create a warm and happy home. Recently our friends had a 3 month old colicky baby. No one could get him settled down. Jessica held the baby, and I watched as she gave him a little massage through his neck and back. He felt so relaxed and finally fell asleep in her arms. It warmed my heart to see her in that role, so I know that she will one day be an incredible mom!"
Home sweet home...
We live in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. We are originally from New York but have found Pennsylvania to be where we would like to raise our family. Our local school system is wonderful, and the Poconos provide many activities to enjoy. Our home is on 2.5 mostly wooded acres. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home, and we are near the top of a mountain and enjoy great views. There are many children in our neighborhood, and we have several friends in the community that have newborn to toddler-aged children. Our child will be blessed with many friends and cousins to grow up with.
We love animals and share our home with our loveable orange tabby cat named Monty. He is great with people and loves to cuddle and play. At night, Monty will lay on Jim’s chest and watch TV with him.
Fun times...
We love to spend any available vacation time with our families in New York, Virginia, and Florida. Jim’s parents are fully retired, and we enjoy spending time with them. We enjoy going out on Jim’s family’s boats. It is so much fun being on the water with people you love. We go fishing, have picnics, and just spend quality time together. We also love inviting our friends and their children to our home for dinner parties or barbecues. For quiet times together, we enjoy watching movies at home cuddled on the couch. We are so ready to share our life with a child and participate in all the fun family adventures life has to offer!
We spend all holidays with our family. Since the birth of our nephew Elijah, we have been going to Virginia for Christmas. We meet Jim’s parents there and have so much fun watching Eli grow. One of our favorite traditions to enjoy with our families is “Octoberfest.” It’s held in a big barn on an apple orchard. There is tons of food, hot chocolate and apple cider, and a pumpkin carving contest. We can’t wait until our child can be part of this 10 year tradition, and to create some of our very own family traditions.
Our families & friends...
We have been blessed with a large family (Jim's family - Jess' family). They are all supportive of our decision to adopt and can’t wait for the new addition to our family. Our brothers and sisters have blessed us with four nephews, two nieces, and a niece on the way. We both have lots of cousins and they have children also. Holidays are always a big gathering with lots of love and laughter!
Jim’s parents are snow birds. They have a home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida which is a great place to vacation in the winter. They also have a home in upstate New York in Alexandria Bay (1000 Islands) on the Saint Lawrence Seaway where we spend long relaxing weekends. Jim’s parents are both retired and plan on helping us with our day care needs. Jessica’s parents are divorced but have both remarried. Jessica’s mom and stepfather live near Vermont. Jessica keeps in touch with her mom by phone all the time and share work stories as her mother is a nurse. Jessica’s father and stepmother live nearby, and we go out to dinner and movies regularly. They will both be available for babysitting the little one also, and can’t wait for the opportunity to love and spoil a new grandchild.
Our friends are very important to us too. We get together often for barbecues and family outings. Some of our friends have adopted children and have been wonderful in supporting us on this journey.
Faith & values...
We are Christian and attend a Bible Church on a weekly basis. One of the reasons we chose our church was because of the many wonderful programs and activities they provide for the congregation, adults and children alike. Children’s Church, Sunday School, Youth Group, and Vacation Bible School are just a few of the programs/activities provided for the children. We will raise our child to know and love God so that they may grow in spirit and learn strong moral values. Through our daily walk, we want to help our child learn the importance of honesty, generosity, caring, forgiveness, and unconditional love. John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. He Loves. He Gave. We Believe. We Live.
Open adoption...
Jess’s best friend Maureen adopted a baby from Russia. Ronan is two years old now. Her home is on a 15-acre horse farm. We can envision Ronan being a good friend to our child. Jim’s cousin Kendra was also adopted, so our families and circle of friends are very supportive and open to us adopting too. Kendra just had twin girls this summer, so we are excited that our child will have more playmates in the family!
From the moment we were educated on open adoption and the benefits for everyone involved, we have embraced it. We realize the value of the birthfamily’s involvement in a child’s life and will welcome a healthy open adoptive relationship, if that is your wish. We understand that all adoptions are unique to those that are in it, so we want to encourage a relationship based on love and trust. We are open to discussing what your visions are for you and your baby’s future.
Thank you!
We appreciate your considering us to be the parents of your
baby. We would feel honored and consider it a privilege to rai
se your child. We would love the opportunity to get to know
you and share more of our lives with you. We understand this
is a very difficult time for you, and we pray you have peace as
you make your decisions.
